Disclaimer

I source my individual materials and hardware from numerous suppliers.  Whilst every effort has been made to test and verify suitability, I cannot be held responsible for any incidents or accidents as a result of hardware failure and or incorrect fitting.

I recommend that the finished product is checked on a regular basis for defects/wear and tear. I also recommend reading the below fitting instructions to ensure maximum safety.

By purchasing my collars, the purchaser  accepts all responsibility for any  incidents, accidents or loss, whatever the nature.

How do I fit a Martingale Dog Collar correctly?

Simply slip the collar over the dogs head and adjust the slide to fit the width of your dogs neck.

When the D ring is pulled on, the control loop will start to close, however the two pieces of hardware on this loop should NOT touch, if they do, then the collar is too loose or you have purchased the incorrect size for your dog. These pieces of hardware should be approx two inches apart when the control loop is pulled together.

A correctly fitted martingale collar should not have the second loop dangling.

What is a Martingale Dog Collar?

A martingale is a type of dog collar that provides gentle control without the choking effect of a slip collar.

They are very useful for use on Sighthounds (Greyhounds, Lurchers, Salukis, Whippets etc.) due to these breeds having similar head/neck sizes, therefore standard collars can slip off or they can back out of them. However these collars can be used on most other breeds too.

How do I measure my dog for a Martingale Dog Collar?

📏 Choosing the Correct Size (Important)

A martingale collar must slip over your dog’s head.
Step 1: Measure the widest part of your dog’s head.

Step 2: Measure the neck where the collar will sit.
Step 3: Measure the neck behind the ears
Step 4: If unsure drop me a message

Small: 12"–15"
Medium/Large: 14"–20"  (most popular size for adult greyhounds)

I can make in between sizes too.
XL: 17.5"–26.5" (most popular for dogs with larger heads)
Any questions — please message before purchasing — I’m happy to help.

🐕 What Is a Martingale Collar?

Martingale collars tighten gently when tension is applied, helping prevent dogs from slipping out while avoiding the choking effect of a slip collar.
They are especially popular for sighthounds (Greyhounds, Whippets, Lurchers, Salukis etc.) due to their similar head and neck size, but can also be used on many other breeds.

🔧 Fitting Guide

When fitted correctly:
• The collar sits comfortably on the neck
• The control loop does not hang loose
• When pulled, the metal fittings should not touch
• There should be a small gap (around 2 inches) between the hardware when tightened
If the fittings touch, the collar may be too loose or the incorrect size.

⚠ Safety & Care

Please check collars regularly for signs of wear.
Correct fitting and safe use remain the responsibility of the owner.
